Dominican Word of the Day – Puente – When celebrating a holiday which falls during a weekend, Dominicans tend to take an extra day off to extend their vacation and their absence from work.
Dominican: Manuel va a celebrar el fin de semana largo en Punta Cana, y va hacer puente desde el jueves.
English: Manuel is going on vacation for the long weekend and will be taking an extra day off as of Thursday.
